White Adapter with Chrome Nut

With the water supply off, unthread the chrome nut, remove the white adapter, unscrew the Phillips head screw and elevator out the white stalk extension. Move to Cartridge Nut and Cartridge Removal: Disassembly

Stalk Extension- Fully Splined Outside (colors may vary)

With the water supply off, use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the Phillips spiral. Lift out the splined stalk extension. Move to Cartridge Nut and Cartridge Removal: Disassembly.

 Cartridge Nut and Cartridge Removal: The Cartridge Nut can be removed using either a Moen Removal Tool 14272 or Needle Nose Pliers

Using Removal Tool 14272

Disassembly:

  1. Use the removal tool 14272 to unscrew the cartridge nut (#1).
  2. Use pliers to pull the cartridge (#2) out.

It is recommended to clean and affluent the valve body, see article Valve Trunk Cleaning and Flushing.

Associates:

  1. Marshal the tab on the front end of the cartridge (#2) with the recessed indentation on the within of the valve body (#3) and slide the cartridge (#ii) into the valve torso (#iii).
  2. Use the removal tool to thread the cartridge nut (#1) into the valve body (#iii).

Using Needle-Nose Pliers

Disassembly:

  1. Insert needle olfactory organ pliers into the valve torso (#three) so they are in the recesses in the cartridge nut (#1). Unscrew the cartridge nut (#ane) counter-clockwise to remove.
  2. Use pliers to pull the cartridge (#2) out.

Assembly:

  1. Align the tab on the front of the cartridge (#2) with the recessed indentation on the inside of the valve trunk (#3) and slide the cartridge (#2) into the valve trunk (#3).
  2. Place the cartridge nut (#1) into the valve body (#3). Insert needle-nose pliers into the valve body (#3) so they are in the recesses in the cartridge nut (#i). Thread the cartridge nut (#1) clockwise to install.
