Stalk Extension- Fully Splined Outside (colors may vary)	With the water supply off, use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the Phillips spiral. Lift out the splined stalk extension. Move to Cartridge Nut and Cartridge Removal: Disassembly.

 Cartridge Nut and Cartridge Removal: The Cartridge Nut can be removed using either a Moen Removal Tool 14272 or Needle Nose Pliers

This image illustrates the location and the points of contact that the tool will need to brand. The nut is threaded so the tool will need to be rotated counter clockwise to remove it.

Using Removal Tool 14272 Disassembly: Use the removal tool 14272 to unscrew the cartridge nut (#1). Use pliers to pull the cartridge (#2) out. Associates: Marshal the tab on the front end of the cartridge (#2) with the recessed indentation on the within of the valve body (#3) and slide the cartridge (#ii) into the valve torso (#iii). Unscrew the cartridge nut (#ane) counter-clockwise to remove. Use pliers to pull the cartridge (#2) out. Assembly: Align the tab on the front of the cartridge (#2) with the recessed indentation on the inside of the valve trunk (#3) and slide the cartridge (#2) into the valve trunk (#3). Place the cartridge nut (#1) into the valve body (#3). Insert needle-nose pliers into the valve body (#3) so they are in the recesses in the cartridge nut (#i). Thread the cartridge nut (#1) clockwise to install.
